Tax return FAQs for expats
Do I have to file a Spanish tax return?
If you are tax resident in Spain (generally, more than 183 days a year here, or your main economic interests here), you file a return on your worldwide income, usually between April and 30 June. If you're not resident but have Spanish income or property, you file non-resident tax instead.
Will I be taxed twice on my foreign income?
Usually not. Spain has double tax treaties with most countries, and we apply them so you don't pay twice on the same income.
Do I need to declare my foreign bank accounts?
If you are tax resident and your accounts, securities or property abroad exceed €50,000 in any category, you must also file form 720 between 1 January and 31 March. We can do it for you.
Which documents do I need?
Your NIE or ID, access to your tax data, and documents for any income and assets abroad. We send you an exact checklist for your case.
Don't confirm the draft without checking.
