FAQs
What is the flat rate (tarifa plana)?
If it's your first registration, or you haven't been autónomo in the previous two years (three if you've had it before), you pay a reduced €80 a month for the first 12 months. It can be extended for 12 more months if your net earnings are below the minimum wage. We apply for it when we register you.
How much does a company director pay in 2026?
Directors and partners working in their own company (autónomos societarios) and collaborating family members cannot contribute on less than the group 7 minimum base, €1,424.40 a month in 2026. At 31.5% that is about €448.69 a month, even if their earnings would place them in a lower bracket. If their bracket has a higher minimum base, the bracket applies.
What if I earn more or less than expected?
Social Security compares your payments with your real earnings once you file your tax return. If you paid too little, they claim the difference; if you paid too much, they refund it. That's why it pays to adjust your bracket during the year.
Can I change bracket during the year?
Yes, up to six times a year, effective from 1 March, 1 May, 1 July, 1 September, 1 November or 1 January of the following year.
Is the payment tax-deductible?
Yes. Your autónomo social security payment is a deductible expense for income tax.
